You may be thinking, “a purchase that changed her life? Thats a bit dramatic.” But BELIEVE ME. Keep reading. I’m not being dramatic.
I am a HUGE coffee drinker. And I really can’t remember a time when I wasn’t. For years in high school, every weekend I would go with my friends to Starbucks. We had a routine. Our local mall, then Starbucks. Or the movies, then Starbucks. Or Barnes & Noble, then Starbucks. We LOVED Starbucks.
My mom started bringing my brother and me to Starbucks all the time after school. Normal coffee from a pot just didn’t cut it. In college, my friends and I would carpool there daily. We were obsessed. By the time I finished law school, I was practically living at Starbucks (I give them credit for helping me make it through). Without espresso, I would get a headache. Coffee was pretty much my lifeline.
Once I graduated, I knew I had to make a change. The thing is, I never drank coffee just for caffeine. I have genuinely always loved coffee. I love the taste, the smell—everything. So, I started drinking just decaf coffee. Eventually, the headaches went away.
About a year later, after I graduated with my LLM, I started my job, where there was a Starbucks in the building. My caffeine habit was under control at this point, but like I said—I love coffee. So, every day on the way to work, I would mobile order from Starbucks. And some days, I would get another coffee on the way out.
Fast forward to this past March. Let me set the scene for you: March 2020. There’s a coronavirus outbreak in Europe. It’s all over the news. People are stocking up on toilet paper and Clorox wipes. Stay At Home orders in the US have begun. There are rumors that restaurants may completely shut down. Will coffee shops close, too? If so, what will I do about my coffee?!
Panicked, I began researching coffee machines online. As I read reviews, I kept seeing Nespresso pop up over and over again. I eventually found an AMAZING deal for a Nespresso VertuoPlus that also came with a frother and some sample pods. A few days later, my Nespresso machine arrived, and my life was forever changed.

And that is TRULY saying something.
