With that being said, I hope you enjoy these book posts and get some reading inspo from them. Reading has always brought SO much joy to my life, so I hope to bring a little to yours through these posts 🙂

The Berlin Girl by Mandy Robotham

This is a WWII historical fiction novel. A British female journalist, Georgie, is assigned to Berlin right before the start of the war. There, she meets many other journalists and forms many friendships- the most important one being that with a journalist named Max (hint hint: romance lol). The novel does a great job of describing Germany immediately prior to the beginning of WWII and also delves into the principal role newspaper journalists played in reporting the events taking place in Germany during that time.

This book was one I had a hard time putting down. Not only was it filled with historical facts, but it was also bursting with suspense and romance. It was also great to read about a woman paving the way for herself in journalism at a time when women were not generally recognized in that field. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

The Forgotten Daughter by Joanna Goodman

This is also a historical fiction novel- but about a time and a place that I had never really read about before. This novel is set in Quebec in the 1970s and 1990s, a time when many French-Canadians were fighting for Quebec’s independence.

The main character is Véronique Fortin, the daughter of a famous, radical separatist who, in the 1970s, was convicted of kidnapping/murdering a politician. She struggles between believing in her father’s cause and falling in love with a man who opposes Quebec separatism. This story is one of passion and turbulence and having to come to terms with the fact that not everything is black and white.

I really, really enjoyed this book. I feel like I read SO many WWII historical fiction books (which I of course love.. but I do read a lot of them lol), so this was a breath of fresh air. I enjoyed learning about a time and a place that, honestly, I have not learned much about in the past. Plus, Quebec has a special place in my heart because it is where Rick and I went on our honeymoon!!

The Black Swan of Paris by Karen Robards

Okay….. I’m obsessed with this book. Set in Paris in WWII, Genevieve Dumont is a STAR. She is known all around Europe for her fantastic voice and performances. She is beloved by the Nazis. However… that is not all she is. Rather, her position as a singing darling allows her to be a smokescreen and go undetected as an ally to the resistance.

This novel tells a tumultuous story of family drama, love, betrayal, and doing whatever it takes to protect the ones you care about most. It is truly a dynamic book!! When I finished reading it, I thought to myself, “this is the best book I’ve read in awhile.” I loved it- two thumbs up!!!!

That wraps up the books I read in February!! If you have any book recs for me, please comment below or DM me on Instagram! I’m always looking for new things to read 🙂
